Position Purpose
The Senior Engineer I or Scientist I is accountable for lead the development of new products and optimize the existing ones inside and outside the Business Unit.
The position exists as part of a natural path to grow inside RD&Q organization, to develop technical & leadership abilities and knowledge to perform within the future RD&Q leader career plan. The Senior Engineer I / Scientist I has acquired enough RD&Q experience to show a high degree of technical expertise and enough business experience to implement & lead projects with minimum guidance, interacting with the business functions; this position also provides motivation and differentiation versus previous level responsibilities and commitment.
Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver, generate ideas and implement productivity projects to contribute to LA funnels through appropriate relationship with RD&Q team (Platform, process, COE, Global Productivity), procurement, manufacturing, CI, BU & MKT functions.
  • The position of Senior Scientist I or Engineer I is accountable for know how to operate and manage the product developing process; identifies, leads & implements initiatives and projects within the category following IIM process and under I2M umbrella.
  • Assuring compliance with MDLZ Quality, health, safety and environmental policies.
  • To be collaborative, open mind to do networking internal and external to accelerate and facilitate to achieve the desirable result, keeping and developing strong relationship and communicating with involved functions and peers.
  • Accountable for bringing improvements and optimizations for the Category related with cost optimization, product processing, product quality, and others.

The Success Candidate Will be:
Academic Knowledge

  • Technical master degree in specific technology (product/quality/package).
  • Educational background in Engineering, Chemistry or Technology, ideally related with Food Science technical field.

Working Knowledge

  • Knowledge in specific technology (product/quality/package).
  • Knowledge proven track record on product development, food analysis, quality programs and processing knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assignments with high degree of autonomy.
  • Basic Software understanding (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Ability for fluent communication in English and Spanish (oral & written).
  • Norm’s knowledge.
  • Strong technical knowledge and manage food analytical methodologies and food processing.
  • Good understanding of quality requirements (HACCP, GMP, L6S).


  • Pro-activity to propose different ideas, improvements and solutions during the process of product development.
  • Ability to develop and manage different Suppliers to achieve projects objectives in a more efficient way.
  • Ability to work in multifunctional teams.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to continuous changes.
  • Creativity. Ability to develop and understand new ideas, openness.
  • Product problem solving – Recognizes and articulates limitations of equipment and methods; knowledge of techniques and approaches to eliminate those limitations when necessary.
  • Sufficient skills to interface with workers and plant employees.
  • Ability to communicate at different level of the organization.
  • Ability to autonomously identify and manage programs to accomplish objectives with limited direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects within the category with a substantial workload.
  • Capabilities in Project Management & Execution, Strategic Innovation, New Product or Package/ Product or Package Development, Quality, Cost Optimization and Improvements.
  • Proven ability to interact with cross functional business partners to establish target, plans and maintain timelines to ensure timely and quality execution.
