About The Role

    • The position will serve as a key member of Barry Callebaut organization in South LATAM. The role will be responsible for supporting the business by performing duties, managing Quality Management Systems, R&D projects providing short and long-term strategies that prepare the Barry Callebaut sites located in Extrema (Brazil) and Paine (Chile) for new customer expectations and regulatory changes. The individual will ensure that our products, facilities, processes and systems meet the required Company and legislative quality standards. He/she will lead in cooperation with sales the development of new products answering needs of our customers to continue our growth. The individual needs to be a dynamic change agent and visible leader to drive a high culture of quality and work with the leadership team will ensure a robust pipeline of talent to develop and place in assignments across the region. Finally, the individual is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and customers in the region and globally.

 
Key Responsibilities Include

  • Change agent to drive a strong culture of quality at the corporate and plant level through partnerships with key stakeholder groups including supply chain, sales, R&D and marketing.
  • Create an environment to continuously develop the people across the organization by upgrading competencies and skills. Coach employees.
  • In conjunction with VP, Americas Quality advance the quality strategy. Provide aspirational functional
  • Direct oversight of two internal Barry Callebaut manufacturing facilities located in South LATAM (Brazil and Chile). Provide support and guidance to ensure implementation, development, and consistency of best practices. Ensure facilities are in compliance with company, customer and regulatory standards and are prepared for internal and external audits. Ensure the implementation of corrective action associated with gaps are completed.
  • Leadership role in risk assessment activity to identify areas of improvement across the supply chain and proactively develop plans to mitigate risks.
  • Continually improve performance against key quality metrics such as customer complaints, quality related costs, audit outcomes by proactively leading initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate food safety or quality incidents with the internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Participate in internal, supplier & co-manufacturer audits when needed.
  • Continuously improve quality related knowledge, skills and understanding by conducting training programs and disseminating information covering standards, procedures and policies to assure employees are equipped to meet required standards.
  • Develop strong working relationship with Barry Callebaut Americas Region senior leadership and Global QA;
  • Initiate, design and direct R&D projects in line with the business strategy and objectives;
  • Develop new products inside the innovation funnel to create new market opportunities;
  • Work in close cooperation with the Sales and Customer R&D to support successful Product development answering needs of customers and being directly involved with customer contacts where needed.
  • Prioritize projects and deliver them on time and in full.
  • Manage the technical product development projects from idea or marketing briefing through the complete innovation funnel
  • Allocate the appropriate resources to a project, manage the project budget and monitor the overall project performance;
    • Ensure knowledge and know-how from the projects is continuously updated and shared with relevant stakeholders;
    • Develop employees by creating individual learning plans;
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives re processes, technologies, and organization .

 
About You

  • Bachelor / Master Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or Food Engineering;
  • Considered years of experience in Quality, Food Safety and R&D;
  • FDA Preventive Control Qualified Individual (PCQI) ;
  • Practical experience in Food and or Beverage, preferably Chocolate besides Project Management;
  • Native Portuguese speaking, and Fluent Business English and Spanish;
  • Good knowledge of working tools (MS Office, SAP).

  • Develop of new controls on the programs to be implemented

  • Experience leading and working with cross-functional teams
    • Demonstrated organizational skills and track record of successfully manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
